At Bruce Parker, DMD we believe prevention is the best dental treatment our patients can receive. The time, cost and discomfort of preventative dental treatments is much more manageable than treatments that require more invasive measures.
At Home Dental Care
Practicing good at home dental care is the first step in prevention, we recommend you brush at least twice a day, floss at least once and use some form of mouthwash. Taking good care of your oral health at home can help prevent cavities, infections and dental decay/disease.
Dental Examinations
At our Pittsburgh dental office, we recommend dental examinations every 6 months. This allows us to look for any cavities, decay, signs of disease and even screen for oral cancer. Routine examinations can help catch dental issues before they become a big problem, requiring fillings, crowns or even an extraction.
Dental Cleanings
When you receive a dental examination, we also recommend routine dental cleanings. Our specialized dental tools allow us to reach areas your brush and floss may miss, left untreated these bacteria and debris can cause cavities, gum disease, bad breath among other things.
Sealants
Dental sealants can help prevent tooth decay and cavities in treated teeth. The sealant is placed on your teeth and helps seal pits on the surface area of your teeth. These areas typically attract more bacteria, debris and decay.
Fluoride Treatment
Although we receive fluoride through water and some foods, certain patients may need more fluoride. Fluoride can help reverse and prevent tooth decay.
